John "the Ninja" Nijhawan
|
Welcome to www.johntheninja.com, the home page for John Nijhawan. I currently live in Los Angeles where I work as an independent filmmaker, i.e. director/producer/writer/actor. What that really means is that I have no steady job! In actuality, I bounce from project to project – I’m not a total bum. This site is somewhat under construction, but you can still enjoy a few things such as my cinematography reel (2 minutes), my resume, some photos I took in India last year, links to bar reviews I wrote for Esquire.com, and access to the website of my last short film “A Hooker & A Dirt Road End.” In fact, though not through my website, you can watch “A Hooker & A Dirt Road End” in its entirety by clicking here. It’s the end result of a healthy Catholic education. Hooker had a good run on the festival circuit (screening globally) and was just distributed on the 9th Annual Slamdance Film Festival Shorts DVD.
In the meantime, I am producing a short film to be directed by my good friend Joe Saito entitled “A Lone Star State” which will be shot on location in the Austin, Texas area and will be starring Jon Gries (well known for his portrayals of Uncle Rico in “Napoleon Dynamite” & Lazlo Hollyfeld in “Real Genius”). Feel free to shoot me an e-mail if you like/dislike anything you see on this site or want to employ/befriend me. You’ll have to read my resume to learn of my pedigree, but in all seriousness, I’m very competent when it comes to making films & I’m always interested in learning about new independent film projects… I am very eager to discuss new ideas & help out however I can.
